Reflection Phase in HFSS

Postby Wycleef » Wed May 27, 2009 6:18 am

Hi guys,

i'm trying to get the reflection phase of a EBG unit cell in HFSS 11. I'm using a air box with two Perfect E sides and two Perfect H sides. Then I use a waveport do make a normal incident wave to the EBG unit cell. The only thing i don't know is the height of this air box. What value should it be?

Thanks, regards

The best way to do this in HFSS is to use Floquet ports. They are assigned just like waveports, only using Master/Slave boundaries for your unit cell. This will allow you to de-embed from the port face to the surface of your EBG, and look at ang(S11), which is your reflection phase. Be careful in crafting the Floquet ports, as specifying too high a frequency with too large a unit cell or incident angle will require many higher order modes, which will require more computation time. I think the Ansoft AE's have a training example on this. You might want to contact your local AE.
